THE HOLLY BUSH INN Cefn Mawr & Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site

Holly Bush Inn, Cefn Mawr, LL14 3AE in 2015

Welcome to the Holly Bush Inn a warm and welcome pub in the middle of Cefn Mawr and at the centre of the Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site. We serve some of the best beer in the Cefn according to our regulars and we would like to hear what you all think as well. We are open seven days a week from 11:00am to 11:00pm.

The Holly Bush Inn, Well Street, Cefn Mawr, LL14 3AE, Telephone 01978 449 814 is the home of the Plas Kynaston Canal Group & Turst and office for the Plas Kynaston Canal & Railway Company.

Established in 1800 at the time of the construction of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which the pub is closely linked to, the pub has had an interesting history over the past 200 years and you can read about this on our Holly Bush Inn History Page .

The Holly Bush Inn is also linked to the construction of the mighty Cefn Viaduct in the 1840’s and the pub has an excellent view point platform for the viaduct, Dee Valley and the north of the Shropshire Plain.

We took the pub over from the brewery in early 2013 and since then we have been renovating the premises to bring the pub to its present condition after years of neglect. This has been well documented and is available for reading on our Renovation Pages.

The Holly Bush Inn Cefn Mawr Phase 2 Build Plans

We would like to encourage tourism into our community and to do so for every ones benefit we plan to extend the premises to provide 2 Studio Recording / Practice Rooms for our local bands, a Welsh Good Food Restaurant facility run by Café Florence in addition to our selection of popular Beers, Wines and Spirits, Hackney Carriage Coach Housing and PUBLIC TOILETS.

To do this we need every one to help in getting WCBC to work with us to increase the footfall in our village centre which will help the whole of the community of Cefn. We need to stop the segregation of our community from the Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site and reconnect Cefn Mawr with the Aqueduct, Canal and Inland Waterway Network.

To help us do this please:

We are doing everything we can to keep our village alive but we need WCBC, the CRT and Eastman Chemicals to work with us as well or our community will continue to struggle in post-industrial depression with high unemployment. There is no good reason why our community at the centre of the WHS corridor should continue to be segregated and excluded from the World Heritage Site and the Tourism Industry now Monsanto has gone.

Our community can become a Sustainable Tourist Destination & Transport Hub for the Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site, Dee Valley and South Wrexham.

Regards,

David Metcalfe and all at the Holly Bush Inn.
